 Next years plans

Just to prepare folks for the next shoot, heres food for thought, Next year we need to consider a couple of options for the club, these are just my thoughts, and i'd like to hear everyones opinion. 1) are we intrested in again teaming with MCA in the joint "ironman shoot" for raising money for the MCFGC ?
2) Would we also be intrested in hosting, or at least co-hosting The Bluegrass State Games Archery Tournament?

I think the "Ironman Shoot " was a success as far as fun, but the low attendance did limit the fundraising aspect of it. Part of this was due to an ASA shoot in a neighboring state that drew alot of the tournament compound shooters away. Maybe with more carefull planning that could be avoided next year, and we certainly could do a better job of advertising it next year, our internet forum sites being a good way to spread the word. I think it being a 2 day shoot would also be an excellent time to make it another campout rendevouz type gathering, intermingling the 2 different versions of archery. I think our small turnout brought out a few old dusty recurves, and myself I really enjoyed talking and shooting the course with some compounders.
Folks, I know this shoot is to benefit the Game Farm and not us, but look at the whole picture, for us to do well, the Game Farm must do well.To me, its maintenance on our home.

From talking with Hope Carleton (MCA) he has decided not to host the Games. They have done this for many years,(14 maybe?) with little help, and have just had enough.
Burnout is terrible thing, and uneccessary if you ask me. There is help, try to think teamwork here. The more folks involved, the lighter the work load. Hope and his wife Ruth have done more than their share, they basically are MCA, with several others that have helped over the years. To host the BGSG all those years and not even get to play in them, well, I really don't blame them.
I believe if KTBA could take this on, or at least share the workload we could continue the BGSG archery tournament here at Mercer County, otherwise, who knows, there may not be anyone else to host it and that is a backward step for our sport.
Basically what I'm looking for is folks to commit in assisting in these two shoots, whether it be helping with setup, takedown, or handling registration, food prep, whatever. The ironman shoot worked well with the Game Club members taking care of registration, and 4-H handling the food, that was a load off us. The BGSG will need dedicated volunteers. Enough volunteers enable everyone to play, not enough puts it all on a few.
That being said, We have had at our club a good bit of help this year with cleanup, most the time it takes less than 1 hour with those that stay late and help, A big giant THANKS , and god bless you to those that have, you know who you are.

Well give this post some thought, kick it around and feel free to put forth any ideas you may have at the August shoot.
See ya'll in August ! ;)

In defense of everyone, you did say think aobut it and we will talk about it in August ;) I would be willing to help any way I can if we as a club decide to do this. I wish I did live closer to where I could be of more help. I have done such things as Hope and yourself have done so I know exactly how you all feel. Sometimes walking away is the only way to get others to wake up and pick up the slack....it nobody picks up the slack then it may not have been worth picking up. I dont know anything at all about he games but it does sound like something worthy to get behind. The thing we need to come away with in August is if the KTBA wants to do this as a "club" Thats the only way to do it, otherwise it will fall on the certain few to make it work just like it was the certain few making it go before. Admittedly I cant say that I dont mind being one of the certain few but when it gets to the point where you feel like you are the only one holding something together then it is not a comfortable place to be. Sounds like that is where Hope is now.

Thats exactly where Hope and Ruth are. I'd be willing to do it if we can get enough people to commit, but if I have to spend the whole time working it, and not shooting it, then forget it.
We can hash it out at the next shoot.
